Elie Mystal is a lawyer, legal commentator, and well known social media personality. In his book, "Allow Me to Retort: A Black Guy's Guide to the Constitution," he explains in plain language, what rights, privileges, and immunities are, and how the American Constitution protects them. Then he tells how Republicans are trying to take away rights and roll back progress.

There is a way, under the rule of law, to stop police brutality. There is a way, in a democracy, to stop attacks on voting rights or gerrymandering of political districts. Indeed, there is a legal way to protect the rights we all have for due process before the government takes something from us or compels to do something we may not want to do.

Elie Mystal is an expert who is also a great teacher, one with a knack for story telling and penchant for humor. He makes a solid case for how to make sure that persons in America are truly equal before the law and not in a two tier system which favors conservative white men with a 19th century mindset.
